ISRAEL@75 series

The Austin Jewish Film Festival in partnership with the Consulate of Israel and the Israeli American Council is proud to present the Israel@75 Series from August 20, 2023 through mid 2024 in honor of Israel’s 75th anniversary. The series presents a retrospective sampling of films from the country’s history, with films from today all the way back through the 1960s.

You may purchase tickets to individual films for $12 each.  A $2 discount per ticket is automatically applied for online purchases.

Or you can buy an AJFF365 Subscription, which will give you free access to all of these movies plus all other AJFF365 events for a full twelve months from the date of purchase. 

Note that all events in the Israel@75 film series are in-person events in Austin.

ואירגון הקהילה הישראלית – אמריקאית גאים להציג את סדרת הסרטים הישראלים Israel@75, סדרה לרגל חגיגות ה-75 לעצמאותה של מדינת ישראל. הסדרה תפתח ב – 20 לאוגוסט 2023 ותמשך עד ה – 14 באפריל 2024 . הסרטים בסדרה מייצגים שבעה עשורים של עשיה קולנועית ישראלית מגוונת משנות ה – 60 של המאה הקודמת עד היום.

Three very different shipping containers are mistakenly mixed up, resulting in a scramble to find the correct trailer. Johnny Saloniki, the innocent son of a mafiosa, is pulled into the family business to find the missing trailers before time runs out. HUMMUS FULL TRAILER is a colorful and hilarious look at how a couple of Arabs, Gay florists and orthodox Jews discover each other’s secrets, all while trying to keep a wedding on track, hitmen away, and flowers alive.

A group of families emigrate from India to Israel in the late sixties, seeking a better life in what they believe to be the first outpost of the West in Asia. To their surprise, they are sent to a new settlement in the middle of the desert, populated mostly by Moroccan Jews. The two cultures clash as the group tries to integrate into the community, and are faced by harsh realities. But despite the conflicts and prejudices, a strong friendship develops between two girls from opposite sides of the struggle. The film finds a perfect combination between humor and sentiment in a very real and very difficult situation.
הסרט הדרמטי-קומי מתאר את המציאות החברתית של אנשי עיירת עולים חדשים ישראלית בנגב ב-1968, דרך סיפור חברותן של שתי נערות, שרה טלקר (לירז צ'רכי), עולה חדשה מהודו הנמנית עם קהילת בני ישראל, וניקול שושן (נטע גרטי), בת להורים יוצאי מרוקו. סיפור החברות מתחיל כאשר משפחת עולים מהודו, משפחתה של שרה, מגיעה אחרי חודש אולפן והבטחות שווא על מגורים במרכז הארץ, לגור בעיירת הסְפר המאוכלסת רובה ככולה בעולים קשי יום ממרוקו
