“Golda’s Balcony,’ produced by David Fishelson, opened Off-Broadway at Manhattan Ensemble Theatre on March 26, 2003, where it sold out its entire 16-week run. Now the hit play can be experienced on screen.”

David Fishelson image Q&A following the film with producer David Fishelson. Fishelson has been a producer for film, theatre, and television in New York City for the last 35 years.

Tovah Feldshuh, a Tony Award nominee for Best Actress, gave a stunning performance as Golda Meir in William Gibson’s play “Golda’s Balcony.” Scott Schwartz employed a 4-camera shoot in 2003 to capture the original play into “Golda’s Balcony, The Film (2019).” The play, and now the film, follows the trajectory of the life of Golda Meir from Russian immigrant to American schoolteacher to a leader of international politics as the fourth prime minister of Israel. Golda Meir was Israel’s first and only female prime minister. Much of the film’s focus is on the period surrounding the 1973 Yom Kippur War, when Israel was attacked by Egypt and Syria. Gibson’s drama suggests that Meir threatened Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger with the launch of nuclear weapons against her enemies, conceivably starting World War III, unless the U.S. came to her country’s aid.

WINNER to date of 11-out-of-11 Audience Favorite Awards, including the 2019 Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Tel Aviv, Charlotte, Honolulu, Palm Beach, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Winnipeg, Dayton & Rockland Jewish Film Festivals.
